Struvite Removal Product testing with Reverse Osmosis (RO) Membranes

Nanofiltration (0.001µ - 0.01µ) and Reverse Osmosis (30 daltons - 0.001µ)membranes.

There is no effect on the membrane for either flux or rejection.

The numbers are within the normal range. There can be more variation than that just from piece to piece.

Here is the protocol from the test:
·         Using a batch cell tester to determine the water flux which is measured in GFD (galons/Sq.Ft/day)
·         Next tested for percentage of salt rejection (NaCl).
·         The tests were done at a pressure of 200 psi.
·         The test on new membrane is called control ( not soaked). We compare all the other values to the results on new membrane.

Struvite Remover Classifications and Safety

Our product is:  buffered, non-corrosive acid and labeled as slightly irritating.

This simply means that the hydrogen atoms are arranged in a particular manner, which make it effective as a descaler, however, will not affect protein and can be labeled non-corrosive to steel with a very low skin irritation score.  These characteristics along with a very low odor make it unique.

An example and video of our product dissolving the shell of an egg while leaving the protein of the egg still intact, as well as it not affecting our uncovered hands while handling the egg and the product itself.
We had tests conducted o
We had tests conducted for skin irritation and the results are classified as:
Slightly Irritating

The primary irritation index of 0.7 out of a possible 8.0 was obtained from the 1, 24, 48 and 72 hour observations. Based on the 72 hour observations only, Struvite Remover is assigned to Toxicity Category IV.

Classification of Test Substance Descriptive Rating Primary Irritation Index

Non-irritating 0.0
Slightly Irritating 0.1 - 1.9
Moderately Irritating 2.0 - 5.0
Severely Irritating 5.1 - 8.0

Dermal Irritation Toxicity Categories (per Proposed Rule, FR Vol. 49, No. 188)

Toxicity Category Criteria

I Corrosive
II Severe irritation at 72 hours
III Moderate irritation at 72 hours
IV Non-irritating, mild, or slight irritation at 72 hours

We also ran corrosion test on steel:
Not Corrosive
TEST:  NACE Standard EPA1110

The corrosion rate is 0.51 millimeters per year (mmpy.)  According to OSHA and DOT, a product is Not Corrosive if it does not exceed 6.25 mmpy at a test temperature of 55 degrees C. when tested in accordance with NACE Standard TMO169-76.

Struvite Sample Testing Example

Struvite Removal offers free Struvite Sample Testing to show our product is effective and to what extent.

We do the lab tests, take pictures and offer our best recommendations for application thereafter.

No Struvite Sample is exactly alike, and each reacts with our products differently, we help get an idea of rate, and to the extent the product will work but determining the ratio of Struvite broken down as well as the pH of the solution.

For our test, we will fill a beaker with 100% solution, if necessary can check other solutions, place the struvite samples in the beaker as well as a magnetic stir bar to resemble a recirculation. Every 30 minutes check the weight of the dried sample and the pH of the solution. Once dissolved, we test to find the spent solution by adding more and more sample until it's spent. This helps to find a pH the client should look for to make sure the product is done working, and find ratios to get an idea of how much Struvite it can break down.

This test shows the full extent of the sample being broken down in our product, however in many applications the product needs to break up the 1:1:1 ratio of MAP to break down the solids, and the structure falls apart like a house of cards, the solids can then be caught with less product being needed.

An example of the test we offer free:

50mL of 100% Solution Struvite Remover

Struvite Initial Sample Weight: 3.81grams

Set up as a recirculation using a magnetic stirrer and placing the Struvite on the opposite side to better agitate the struvite.

From this test can see the Struvite was easily broken down in a very weak recirculation.

The total amount of Struvite that was dissolved/broken down was 12.3 grams with two pieces adding up to 2.1 grams remaining the next day. This results in our product being effective to a pH of 4 on your struvite and approximately 50 grams of our product to dissolve and break down 12.3 grams. About 4 parts product to 1 part of your Struvite.

The pictures below are from the same test, can see the initial struvite sample and solution, second picture is of the test taking place, and lastly the end result of the sample completely broken down.

We will accept any samples of scale and do this testing free of charge, and share all results and our thoughts.

Struvite Remover, Foam Descaler Application

Struvite Remover Foam Application

Struvite Removal now offers a foaming descaler where a liquid descaler won't match up.

When applied with a foaming solution:

  • Easily apply to vertical surfaces, screens, outside of centrifuges, fin fans, food processing, etc.

  • Easy to use and clean large areas quickly

  • Foam adds increased efficiency and uses less product as compared to sprays or brush on products

  • Reduced fumes and exposure compared to hydrochloric acid

  • Wash away safely with water
